New Semester

I was nervous to start the Spring semester of 2011.  Last semester taking the intro class was challenging.  It was definitely a big learning experience.   I was worried about the expectations of two classes.  After attending the first classes for both, I feel much better about the amount of work and the professors expectations.

I am actually excited to complete the projects for both classes.  I think that Multimedia will allow me to complete a projet that will enhance our Talent21 grant and teach me skills that I could both pass on to my students and use in my lessons.

Theory will be interesting because I considered going into educational psychology and I am interested in learning about how people learn.  I hoping that by understanding how people learn better, I will be able to improve my classroom techniques and engage my students in new and exciting ways.

It's funny because I catch myself now looking for ways to incorporate technology.  I am attending an East Asian Studies Seminar at Princeton, and while attending today I was thinking about how if we were in a lab we could actually view more samples of the art we were looking at today, and possibly find more resources than copies of textbook chapters.

Here's to a good semester!!!!!!!

  1. I worry about next year- who knows what position I will be in and the worst would be if my students did not have internet access. I am thrilled with the Talent 21 grant and I asked a teacher the other day what she would do if she lost her technology next year and she looked horrified and said that there was no way to go back. Now, I know we can but the thought is disheartening to say the least.

I am also excited by our class- though the workload is HUGE! I can't wait to see what you create for us. I was looking at the "during" tasks and found a question we have to do a demonstration AND and a task? Little confused- have to ask Amy about that one. I am glad we are also using a few fun tools to do this. It will be challenging to run lessons where people have to work in teams the way Amy does to us. I do it in the classroom, but the students are right next to each other. Thank goodness we had the model from last semester when we did the yard sale project. We did run out of time to present that night, but it appeared that everyone found a way to work in their teams no problem. Hope this class is just as savvy!
